Why Women Are So Confused About Hormones
I know exactly how you feel. Or at least pretty close to it.Exhausted. Frustrated. Deep down knowing something just is not quite right.
That has been me for the last 10 years.
At 37, I was told I was too young to be in perimenopause, but I had all the symptoms. I knew what I was feeling, yet I kept hearing that I was “too young” or that my symptoms were “normal.” If you have ever felt dismissed like that, you are not alone.
And when I added that on top of my thyroid struggles, which I have also been walking through for years, there were times I honestly felt like I was losing my mind.
Everywhere you turn, someone is telling women something different. Balance your hormones. Take this supplement. HRT is dangerous. HRT is life-changing. One person says one thing, and the next says the complete opposite.
Hormones are a hot topic right now, but let’s be honest. Misinformation is everywhere.
You deserve real answers, not trends. You deserve to understand what is happening in your body without feeling confused, dismissed, or overwhelmed.
It is no wonder I felt confused, and it is probably why you do too.
If you have ever wondered what is actually true when it comes to hormones, keep reading. We are busting some of the biggest myths and helping you make sense of it all.
Feeling confused about hormones? Wondering what is actually true about “balancing” them?
These four myths of hormone balancing will help you better understand what is happening in your body and what really matters.
Hormone “Balancing” Isn’t a Magic Number
Every single day, whether you are a man or a woman, your hormones are fluctuating. That is natural, normal, and necessary.
For women, hormones shift during the menstrual cycle, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, times of stress, thyroid dysfunction, and so many other life transitions.
For men, hormones can shift during chronic stress, poor sleep, aging and testosterone decline, weight changes, thyroid dysfunction, and other major changes in life too.
The truth is, we are never, ever, ever going to have perfectly balanced hormones all the time.
What we can do is understand what is normal for our season of life and pay attention to how our bodies are functioning.
We all go through so many different seasons in life.
For me, I went from running around after my kids and being in the middle of all the school activities, which by the way, I loved every single minute of, to trying to figure out who I am now as an empty nester and a divorced woman.
That is a big shift.
And when you add in stress, aging, thyroid issues, and hormonal changes, it can really affect your body in ways that are hard to explain unless you have lived it.
I have had to learn to give myself some grace. And if you know me at all, you know that is not the easiest thing for me.
I have always been a go-getter. A hostess. A fitness enthusiast. The one who keeps going.
And I still am all of those things.
But in this season, I am also learning that it is okay to slow down. It is okay to take it easy. It is okay to listen to what my body needs.
I keep reminding myself, this is a moment. This is a season. This does not define me.
And with the help of the right healthcare provider, I am getting there.
Lab work can absolutely be helpful, and healthcare providers often use it as an important piece of the puzzle. But there is not one perfect hormone number that fits everyone.
The real question is this: Is your provider looking at the full picture?
Because hormones are not just about one lab result. They are about your symptoms, your stress, your sleep, your age, your thyroid, your lifestyle, and the season of life you are in.
HRT Can Help… But It Is Not the Whole Picture
Are you looking for help with sleep, mood, hot flashes, brain fog, energy, or libido?
If so, HRT can be an amazing tool.
For the right patient, it can truly make a difference. But it is not the whole picture, and it is definitely not a stand-alone miracle if your body is still living under constant stress.
I can tell you firsthand, when you feel exhausted and unlike yourself, you want quick answers. You want relief. You want to feel better now.
I get that because I have been there.
But true healing rarely happens overnight.
As much as we all want one treatment to be the answer, HRT does not replace the basics your body still needs. It does not replace blood sugar balance, quality sleep, stress management, movement, or proper nourishment.
That part matters too.
I have had to remind myself, and maybe you need this reminder too, that feeling better is not about chasing one magic treatment.
It is about taking the time to understand your body, looking at the full picture, and finding the right provider who will truly listen and help you put the pieces together.
And honestly, this is where it gets confusing for so many women.
We are tired. We are overwhelmed. We are juggling everything. Of course we want the quick fix.
I know I have not felt like myself in at least the last eight months, and if I am being really honest, it has probably been longer than that. Maybe even years. As much as I want relief, I also know there is no quick answer.
Real healing usually takes more than one step.
You do not have to figure it out alone.
At Hello Beautiful, we believe in looking at the full picture, not just one symptom or one lab value. We are here to help you better understand your body, your options, and your next best step.
If you are looking for expert guidance and a team that truly listens, Hello Beautiful has you covered.
Why Progesterone Matters More Than Most Women/Men Realize
My nervous system was wrecked, and I truly mean that.
Living in a stressful situation day in and day out kept my body on edge all the time. When you add in the fact that my progesterone was extremely low, it is really no wonder I was dealing with major anxiety.
Progesterone plays a role in so much more than fertility or periods.
It also supports our nervous system, sleep, stress resilience, brain function, inflammation regulation, and even bone health.
And let’s not leave the men out of this conversation.
In men, progesterone is not the star hormone running the show. It is more like the supporting actor behind the scenes. It helps support testosterone balance, sperm function, sleep, brain calming, stress response, and overall hormone balance.
If women are surprised to learn how important progesterone really is, men are usually even more shocked to hear that it plays a role at all.
I do not want to overwhelm you with confusing hormone terminology or tell you to just deal with how you feel.
What I truly want is to give you the education, support, and care that you deserve so you can better understand your body and what it needs.
Let me just give you the facts, straight and simple.
For the longest time, I truly thought hormone replacement therapy was only for menopause.
That is honestly what I believed until we opened Hello Beautiful Medical Spa & Wellness Center with my mom and sister and I started learning more.
Once I began digging into the information, it quickly became clear that I was not alone in thinking that. So many women believe hormone support is only something to consider once menopause hits.
But that could not be further from the truth.
For most women, menopause does not just suddenly show up one day out of nowhere.
Usually, it starts with little symptoms here and there. They can be mild, inconsistent, and easy to brush off, which is exactly what makes it so hard to recognize.
That is why, in my opinion, perimenopause is the real beast in all of this.
The real problem is often not menopause itself. It is everything that happens leading up to it.
And the truth is, perimenopause can start so much sooner than most women realize.
Even many doctors do not always recognize it, not because they want to ignore you, but because they simply were not trained to connect all the symptoms the way they should.
Then add in things like PCOS, thyroid issues, chronic stress, postpartum changes, and irregular periods.
No wonder so many women feel terrible and cannot figure out why.
I firmly believe we know our own bodies better than anyone else.
If you feel like something is off, there is a good chance something is.
My own health journey has taught me how important it is to find someone who will actually listen to you. Feeling off is reason enough to pay attention.
You do not have to wait until your symptoms become overwhelming before you start asking questions.
If something feels different, start now.
And if you are looking for support and guidance, reach out to Hello Beautiful. We would be honored to help you better understand your body and walk with you through the process.

But this time, I know I am not doing it alone.
I will lose the 40 pounds. I will feel better. I will have energy again. I will feel like myself again.
Not because I have all the answers, but because I finally have a team of people who care, who listen, and who are helping me find the right path forward.
And I do not want you to miss out on that same kind of support. You do not have to figure this out alone.
